Around the District

What's going on in Women's Ministry in Alliance churches throughout the Great Lakes District

We met with women in leadership in several of the Alliance Churches in our District to see what they are doing in their Women's Ministry groups. They shared ideas for National Project Fundraisers as well as Fellowship/Outreach Events, and Service Project ideas that they've used at their churches and have found to be fruitful. We wanted to share those ideas with you.

                                       National Project Ideas

  • Pancake Breakfast, Spaghetti, or Pizza Dinner - provide a meal and let attendees determine what to give to donate - brings more in than setting a price per plate

  • Carnival/Fair Day - Create simple lost cost games for kids and adults to play and provide food, each with a reasonable  charge. You can go big or small depending on your resources and space.

  • Rummage Sale - Must have storage area for donated items and lots of hands to help (this is also an outreach opportunity since you're promoting to the community)

  • Dessert Auction - Have ladies bring desserts and auction to congregation after service either Silent or public bidding

  • Youth Auction - Willing and able Youth are auctioned off to highest bidder to do chores such as yard work, painting, ect.

  • Glass Jar Challenge - Have congregation bring change and have one large glass jar for Men, one for Women with a specific time frame for example 1 month

  • Include the kids - give the kids an Easter egg or medicine jar and have them collect change to donate

  • Bubble gum or candy machine - fill and collect year round

  • Tips - Set a goal, Include all the congregation not just women, Clearly communicate the groups in need and the ministries we're providing resources to (play the video for all to see), don't schedule your fundraiser to close to Christmas, Let  people know they can help by praying too (give prayer cards to all)
